1. Catharsis and the Camera

Perhaps, perchance, once in a lifetime you may find yourself in a beautiful house; posed a perfect question by a beautiful person.  And you may ask yourself: “well, how do I answer this?”

Q: “Do you feel that your photography reflects you, in the way you present the photo; or the subject, in how it presents itself?”

You may recall that a while ago I was packing for the desert.

Well, I got there and posted a little reflection about it…

And then, I dove headfirst into a pool of self-loathing and reflection.

Before arriving in my homeland and heartily heaping happiness upon myself with huge helpings of hiraeth and hwyl.

And then with a thunderclap of realisation, I knew it was time to share my journey to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.  I can’t express here in this medium why I couldn’t post these photos earlier, but the above travel of my recent travails might suggest at metamorphosis of sorts …and that would probably be fair.

All I can tell you, unusually for me, in a slightly succinct style, I have won catharsis through a camera.  So, please, enjoy the product of my meta-cognition reflected through my viewfinders.

A: My photography reflects me and my state and what I see and feel.  I use it to subconsciously process my thoughts. I hide behind the lens and use the narrowing of the viewfinder to funnel my thoughts.
