Mirth of Merula
Haranguing the neighbour’s slinking cat
such constant repeated alarm it’s like you’re on the attack.
Singing or not in the dead of night,
Bounce dig tug and worm in mouth a-flight
Man black lady brown your family is Thrush
and with the stooped accountant’s scurry it is you rush.
How bright, Sir, is your beak and eye ring,
In my plain garden a common Blackbird sings.
