Trying to tell the world what I think is awesome, since day dot.
Why are there bike parts hanging in my coat nook? (Part Deux)
I bought a bike. I have been deliberating over this for a little while now. Well, ever since I competed in a Corporate Track Cycling League… And this decision to buy as been researched quite thoroughly.
You see, I’ve worked out that I can spend Fuji Track Pro USA money, and instead get a fairly customised rig on 88mm carbon tubs.
Frame: Aluminium cheapy from trademe (nz ebay)
Fork: Leader Carbon
Wheelset: Suzue high flange hubs to 88mm Light Bike tubular rims
Crankset: Sram Omnium
Cockpit: Deda Pista
Saddle/Post: Used NJS Kashimax/Deda
Compared to the spec sheet of a Felt TK3, or Fuji Track Pro USA - I get a pretty comparable, custom ride for $1600 USD. Rad.
The lads at the local bike shop are pretty engaged, and I admire their pragmatism: “Buy Deda stuff online, we can’t even get it in NZ, so that’s all good. Trust us on the Omnium price and wheel build!” They’re totally right too. Thanks :)
I look forward to many more mornings on the boards.
