Self scanning Here are a few different ways of saying what happened today:   I lost my rag I saw my arse I threw a wobbly I packed a poo I had a tanty I I dropped my cookies I spat the dummy I ripped my nighty I blew my top I got rather cross. Last week I ran a test film through my MPP Microcord TLR, I wanted to see what the focus and lens were like before I committed more film to it. Last week I embarrassed myself by sending a furious email to the photolab who I post away to, they didn’t scan half-a-dozen frames and put a fluro green cast on everything. This week I wanted to get a 120 C41 film developed and scanned. Today I went to Jessops and paid for C41 develop only - £4. Today I went to Snappy Snaps and got told it would be £24 to scan said 120 C41 film. See points 1 through 10.  Really.  Taking the Michael. So, here is my first attempt at self scanning, at home, with an Epson V500.  Jessops obviously don’t care about my negs, sigh - look at it?!, but the scanning was fun, easy and fast.  I’ve got many hours of twiddling knobs and sliding settings ahead of me as I search for the ultimate scan, but I’m a very happy man. I am saving £7-24/film in scanning costs, which eases my guilt on shooting with film!  Hurrah!  So happy days, a new toy and lots more fun to be had. Anyone got some settings/scan procedures they want to share?
